Madeleine Albright to Give Closing Keynote Address at Leading Conference for Independent Investment Advisors

IMPACT 2008 will be held September 23-26 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Honorable Madeleine K. Albright, the 64th Secretary of State of the United States and first female in that role, will be the closing speaker on Friday, September 26. Dr. Albright will speak about her life as a refugee and her rise to become one of the world's most powerful women. She will sketch a vivid portrait of her years as Secretary of State and offer candid descriptions of foreign leaders she encountered throughout the world. She will discuss Americas current role in the world, the effect of strife on the global economy, current regional conflicts, the future of democracy, and the challenge of ensuring security and building peace.

In addition to Dr. Albright, other keynote speakers at IMPACT 2008 will address various relevant topics for advisors, including entrepreneurship, leadership, retirement and the economy. These speakers will include:

  • Ken Dychtwald, best-selling author and president and CEO of Age Wave, will discuss a new landmark study sponsored by Schwab that compares different generations' opinions and attitudes regarding the rapidly changing landscape of retirement in America today.
  • David McCullough, renowned biographer, historian and television host, will discuss what history has taught us about leadership.
  • Ted Turner, the vocal founder of CNN and WTBS who is also well known for his charitable endeavors, will offer an entrepreneurial perspective on the environment, poverty and childrens health. He will be interviewed by Sir Harold Evans, editor at large of The Week Magazine and author of the critically acclaimed They Made America: From the Steam Engine to the Search Engine: Two Centuries of Innovators.

In addition, Charles Schwab Chief Investment Strategist Liz Ann Sonders and Stanford Washington Research Group Chief Political Strategist Gregory Valliere will discuss their economic and political outlooks for the coming year in advance of the Presidential election.
