Public Company Information:
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Charles Schwab has announced the keynote speaker line-up for its IMPACT® 2012 conference, one of the nation’s largest and longest-running annual gatherings of independent investment advisors. IMPACT, now in its 21st year, will be held at McCormick Place in Chicago on November 13-16. The conference will bring together the industry knowledge of Schwab and its advisor clients, numerous exhibitors, and influential speakers in an effort to learn about and collaborate on key issues and topics for independent investment advisors. Additional keynote speakers will be announced later in the year.
“This year’s keynotes were chosen to speak at IMPACT not only because of their great achievements, but also because of the characteristics they share with advisors, one of them being a sense of unstoppable drive and optimism,” said Bernie Clark, executive vice president and head of Schwab Advisor Services. “Their focus on customers, innovative thinking, and their willingness to take on risk and face challenges are all essential components to the success of an independent advisor.”
Phil Jackson (a.k.a. “The Zen Master”) led the Chicago Bulls to six NBA titles and the L.A. Lakers to five more. The NBA ranks Phil Jackson among the top ten basketball coaches of all time. He’ll offer advisors unique perspective on how to drive positive outcomes by having faith in your team and in yourself — especially in the face of adversity.
Keith Wandell, chairman, president, and CEO of Harley-Davidson, Inc. will share the story of his team's journey. With a mantra that good companies can only succeed with great leaders at every level, he is building a culture of leadership that embraces change – and drives the business even closer to the customer.
Peter Diamandis, founder, chairman, and CEO of X PRIZE Foundation, will offer his perspective on taking on seemingly impossible challenges, thinking outside the lines and fostering innovation. The X PRIZE Foundation organizes large-scale, high-profile competitions “to create radical break-throughs for the benefit of humanity.” They stimulate valuable research and development in critical areas. Some of their projects include finding early tests for Lyme disease, fighting domestic and global poverty, and using mobile technology to transform the healthcare industry.
Robert Gates, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, and Richard Haass, President, Council on Foreign Relations will share their perspective on current events in the Middle East. Between them, they’ve served under four presidential administrations and advised presidents and secretaries of state. Dr. Gates is the first career officer to have risen from entry-level employee to director of the CIA. Dr. Haass, a Rhodes Scholar, has authored more than 10 books on foreign policy.
This year’s event will feature a number of additional presentations by business and industry leaders, remarks by senior Schwab executives, information about products and services from more than 300 exhibitors, and more than 65 education sessions on a range of topics affecting independent investment advisors, including investment strategies and tools; practice management and technology; and operational and business solutions.
